Park Psychotherapy & Energy Therapies
Park Psychotherapy & Energy Therapies
Welcome! My name is Jo Mitchell. I am a UKCP-registered psychotherapist with more than fifteen years experience. My private practice, Park Psychotherapy, is located near to Clarence Park in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
My approach is integrative, transpersonal and somatic (using Sensorimotor Psychotherapy). This means I use a variety of approaches to suit each client, I acknowledge and work with the body's natural healing ability and the spiritual dimension and I use a body-based mindfulness approach as well as 'talking therapy'.
I work with many issues, particularly trauma, anxiety, depression and the search for meaning.
My approach is informed by recent developments in the field of neurobiology; we now know that the human brain can heal, grow and evolve throughout our lifetime (known as neuroplasticity), which gives great hope for the potential for healing and change. Please see my Psychotherapy page for more information about the range of tools and approaches that I use.
In recent years I have also been drawn to energy psychology and energy healing therapies. I am a EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and Matrix Reimprinting Practitioner and a Meta-Health Practitioner (using the Meta-Health coaching framework to explore the emotional-body connection in health issues, symptoms and disease). My psychotherapy approach integrates these energy therapies and I also offer them as stand-alone sessions. Please see each practice page for further information.
I am a registered psychotherapist with the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and adhere to their code of ethics and practice. I have web profiles with several professional organisations, which can be viewed by clicking on the relevant logo below:

"Healing may not be so much about getting better,
as about letting go of everything that isn't you -
all of the expectations, all of the beliefs -
and becoming who you are." Rachel Naomi Remen
